Australia is committed to encouraging business and skilled migration. The Federal Government controls immigration to Australia, with support from specific State Government agencies, as appropriate. There are two main streams under which business and skilled migration to Australia is classified, they are:

• General skilled migration
• Business migration

Under each category there are subcategories, or visa classes and different eligibility criteria apply to each. In most cases there is the option to be sponsored if you meet certain criteria. There are two key bodies that assist with sponsorship to work in Brisbane.

Immigrating to Queensland

The Queensland Government, under the Smart State Initiative has set up the Business Migration Unit to assist business migrants to Queensland. This unit can provide advice and assistance with the lodgement of visa applications, working to ensure that applications meet all the requirements of the Australian Government and hence are processed in the fastest possible time.
